TVM Developments acquired this surplus site from Peterborough Regional Health Centre in October 2009. The property is approximately 5 acres in size and encompasses approximately 250,000 square feet of developed space within five buildings. All of the buildings are connected underground. This site forms an important part of the fabric of Peterborough’s East City. It has been an important landmark for many years remains one of the tallest and largest structures in the area.
TVM saw an opportunity to breathe new life into the site and bring these buildings and this important location back into service for the community. The vision is to create an integrated community of residences, service providers and complimentary social gathering spots to allow for an enriched quality of life.
In late 2012, The TVM Group successfully initiated its vision by completed the re-zoning of the site to allow for a mixed-use re-development of the site. The re-development will include up to 225 residential suites as well as 35,000 square feet of commercial space. Community Service providers will be offered space within the re-development at below market rates.
The first building to be brought back into service is the old Nurse’s Residence. Newly addressed as 185 Hunter Street East, the entire ground floor will be the new home of Community Care Peterborough. 30 luxury residential suites will be offered on floors 2 through 4. Occupancy will be Summer 2013.
Additional commercial space opportunities are now available for the next phases of the re-development.
TVM Developments sits squarely at the entrance to the City from the East (Hunter Street). East City is very stable, and mature are whose residents maintain it with a tremendous amount of pride. The Hunter Street corridor provides for a wonderful ’main street’ allowing street front retail to support the neighbourhood feel.
